Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 1/3/19
As we enter 2019 we can manifest our social justice intentions at two important gatherings next week. Together let us create a coalition of the willing and say no to BOTH individual and governmental hate.
Whether we live by the scripture found in Leviticus that requires, “Ve’ahavta l’reacha camocha” (And you will love your neighbor as yourself) or we harken to the 36 times Torah requires us welcome and honor the immigrant, whether we are targets of hate or immigrants or immigrant descendent, together we can say YES to love and welcome.
As usual, we ask that you invite your friends to join us by sending this link to 10 of your friends.
And finally, we look forward to seeing you at our next Interfaith service on Tuesday, January 15 at 7 pm. We will continue into the future on the third Tuesday of he month from 7-8 pm. Location TBD.
So many blessings!
Rabbi Debra for the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance
Attend a Public Hearing to Stop ICE at NORCOR!
Gorge ICE Resistance is hosting a rally at the Wasco County Courthouse to support a law suite to kick ICE out of NORCOR!
Public hearing begins @ 1:30 for the case of 4 taxpayers from Wasco County against the NORCOR public jail for violating Oregon’s sanctuary law (ORS-A820) by jailing immigrants for ICE who are awaiting hearing regarding their immigration status. Come and join us on the courthouse steps before the hearing and show your support of these brave members of our community who are taking the jail to task over it’s inhumane practices holding immigrants who do not belong behind bars. NORCOR’s actions go against the spirit of our state sanctuary law and that law is now being tested in court!
