Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 12/05/19
As we navigate through the winter chill we invite you to two opportunities to both bundle and show up for justice! Let’s make sure that PSU professors and low income TriMet riders know that people of faith are with them.
For the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance,
Rabbi Debra Kolodny
Rally for a Fair Contract for PSU Professors!
The labor contract for university professors expires on November 30th, and December 7th will mark 150 calendar days of bargaining and an agreement on a new contract still has not been reached. Other PSU workers recently had to threaten a strike in order to get the university to agree to a fair contract, and so as the expiration date on the contract draws near with a new contract in site, the professors are gearing up for a struggle.
We are planning for a rally and action in early December to pressure the university to settle a fair contract. Details will be announced soon so stay tuned to find out how you can support professors at PSU who are fighting for a fair contract!
Portland JwJ Community Action!
Portland Jobs with Justice has endorsed the demand for a TriMet Fare Moratorium!
We are working with our partners at OPAL and other organizations to turn out our members, allies, and community in support of our demands for a fare moratorium. We know that they way to increase accessibility and ridership on our buses and trains is to reduce and even eliminate the cost of fares. Unfortunately, TriMet is moving in the opposite direction by proposing a phased in fare increase.
December 11 at 8:30am.
Location to be announced (check our upcoming weekly events emails, or on the Portland JwJ Facebook page for updates).
Come out to this important TriMet board meeting to help us demonstrate a broad base of community support for a fare moratorium!
