Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 12/19/18

As many of us are preparing for time off with family and/or friends, street activism has slowed just a bit, but we have an opportunity for you to take action on an important environmental issue and a new save the date for a Legislative Forum that will focus on many issues of import to faith based activists. (So sorry to my Jewish friends and colleagues that this event will fall on Shabbat morning…)

As we look to grow the impact of our alliance in the new year, we’d ask that you invite 5 faith rooted activists you know with to join us by sending this link!

And finally, we look forward to seeing you at our next Interfaith service on Tuesday, January 15 at 7 pm. We will continue into the future on the third Tuesday of he month from 7-8 pm. Location TBD.

Wishing all who celebrate a meaningful, deep, inspiring Winter Solstice, Christmas and/or Kwanza.

So many blessings!

Rabbi Debra for the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance

Say NO to Harmful Air Pollution!

Wood smoke from home stoves produces incredibly harmful particulate pollution that severely affects our health.  This is particularly true in many parts of Oregon where there are large number of home wood stoves and a stagnation of air

Years ago a deadline was set to prohibit high polluting wood stoves from being sold by a date certain. But the Environmental Protection Agency wants to extend that date for two years and this is simply not good for anyone!

You can speak out to oppose the extension from now until January 14, 2019 by commenting on the proposed rule change!

For some helpful background on why this is so important, click here for the Oregon DEQ site on the Health Effects of Wood Smoke!

The notice in the Federal Register, with information about how to submit comments can be found by clicking here!

You can find a sample comment from Nancy Alderman, President, Environment and Human Health, Inc. (EHHI) by clicking here!
