Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 2/20/19

This week we are incredibly excited to invite you to join the launch of a major initiative to get dirty money out of the PERS system. Together we can ensure that Oregon does not invest in union busting, mass incarceration and more.

We are also happy to invite you to join us in supporting two critical health care bills-one for Medicaid and one for mental health care in this state.

This legislative season will provide us with many opportunities to speak up and make a difference. Keep your eyes peeled for our Action Alerts through June!

Lift a Moral Voice to Divest Oregon State Funds from Endeavour Capital!

Some State of Oregon retirement funds are being invested with Portland-based Endeavour Capital, which owns companies that have:

  • Union busted by violating labor law and the rights of workers to organize and form unions in Oregon and Washington
  • profited off of mass incarceration and private bail bonds in California
  • contributed almost $800,000 to a political action committee in California to defeat legislation meant to protect people from bail bond profiteers

Endeavour has also received significant investment from the Murdock Charitable Trust, which has funded extreme anti-LGBTQ causes like the so-called “ex-gay therapy” (or “conversion therapy”).

Click Here and join us in asking that the OIC listen to people of faith and people of good will, act as responsible fiduciaries for Oregon’s future, act justly, and divest from Endeavour Capital!

Make your voice heard! We must Protect Medicaid!

Legislators will be voting on funding the Oregon Medicaid program in the coming days and it’s urgent that they hear from you! Click here for the tool to create an easy, one-step message.

There are many votes that are important during this legislative session and we expect one of the most critical votes to take place very soon, so take action today!

And when someone like Pam Terpin of Gold Beach says “I probably wouldn’t be alive” without Medicaid, you’ll know you’ve become part of her story!

Support Strong Mental Healthcare Systems in Oregon!

Help us improve a piece of Oregon’s broken system of mental health care, specifically for those in crisis. Click here to write your representatives to let them know that mental health care is a priority for you. The first bill addresses those who need in-patient care but have no place to go, and find themselves in the emergency department for days on end. The second seeks to make sure patients are not forgotten after they are stabilized and released from the hospital.
