Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 2/28/19
This week we are excited to lift up three important actions!
For we who are organizationally connected in congregations and non-profits we have an important sign on letter directed to Congressman Earl Blumenauer regarding NAFTA. Please do sign on before March 15!
For all of us concerned about worker justice we invite you to support the Providence workers who voted in a union and tell Providence not to file frivolous appeals
For all of us supporting tenants rights we are thrilled to ask you to send a thank you note to your state representatives, because we won! We passed Senate Bill 608, which Governor Brown has to signed into law this afternoon. To all of us who lobbied and testified on this important piece of legislation, I encourage us to take a moment to celebrate. It was beautiful to hear the powerful testimony of renters AND landlords as well as fellow faith leaders on this bill.
And finally, we are eager to see you at our next Interfaith Service on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:00 pm at Grant Park Church, 2728 NE 34th. We had a beautiful gathering in February and are looking forward to growing in faith together with you! There is ample parking in the lot across the street and a ramp to the front door. There are two front doors, please use the one on the right go down a short hallway, make a right, and the first door you see will be us.
On behalf of the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance,
Rabbi Debra Kolodny
Tell Congressman Blumenauer Our Community says NO to Pharmaceutical Monopolies in NAFTA!
The Trump Administration’s proposed text for a revised NAFTA threatens access to medicine by granting pharmaceutical corporations monopoly power to block generic competition. We need Congress to reject policies that would exacerbate this ongoing crisis!
Portland area Congressman Blumenauer was recently named Chair of the Trade Subcommittee in the House, and he has the power to demand that these dangerous provisions be removed from the proposed new NAFTA text, as well as other trade agreements moving forward. He has begun speaking out on this issue, and we want to support and encourage him to remain firm in this!
Please sign your organization onto the letter no later than March 15! Click here

Lift a Moral Voice to Protect The Victory of Workers at Portland Providence!
Last Thursday, a judge determined that Healthcare workers at Providence Portland Medical Center WON their union election! This is an incredible victory for over 800 hospital workers who now have a stronger voice in providing quality, compassionate patient care in their facility.
However, we are now in a *time critical* moment where hospital admins could still try to thwart the democratic vote of workers by filing a frivolous appeal!
That’s why we need your help today to show Providence that the community will not stand for that
Click Here to sign and tell Providence the community demands they respect the workers vote!
Thank The Legislators Who Championed Stable Homes for Oregon Families!
