Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 5/9/19

This week invite you to speak out on behalf of our parks, preventing gun violence, investing in our students and saying no to nefarious investment firms who were trusted with public money. Thank you so much for all you do to support this holy work, and we especially hope to see you on May 29 to kick off our Endeavour Capitol action from 11 am till noon. Wishing all of our Muslim friends a Ramadan Mubarak and praying for an end to violence in Israel/Palestine.

Rabbi Debra Kolodny for the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance

Sign-On to a Letter Written By Faith Leaders to Help Prevent Gun Violence!

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon invites Oregon faith leaders from all religious backgrounds and all parts of our state to sign onto a letter in support of two bills currently being considered in the Oregon Senate.
Read the letter we wrote with our partners at Lift Every Voice Oregon to express support for two important measures that would make concrete improvements to our state’s gun safety laws.
If you’re a faith leader in Oregon, please sign onto this letter through the form here. Please consider inviting some clergy friends to sign on, too.
If you’re not a faith leader, please share this invitation with your imam, rabbi, lama, teacher, pastor, priest, chaplain, or other leader.
We are hoping to gather signatures by May 13, to deliver this letter to our Senators that week as part of their deliberation on the bills. Signatures are needed from clergy all across the state, so please sign on today!

Support Educators in Oregon and Invest in the Future of Our Students!

From all corners of the state, yesterday the message was loud and clear: It’s time to invest in our students! Over 20,000 were at the waterfront here in Portland, who along with the the thousands who made their way to the Capitol, together lifted the message that we need a tax system that requires corporations to do their part to fund our schools. Here’s how you can help the #RedForEd movement!

Contact the Joint Committee on Student Success and urge them to support the Student Success Act (HB 3427)
