Spirit Led Justice Alliance *Action Alert* 7/5/19
The legislative session has come to a rather dramatic close, with hundreds of bills passed in just a couple of days because of the outrageous Republican walk out in the Senate. We had many successes for immigrants and refugees, for families and health care, for youth offenders and for limiting the death penalty to name just a few. We thank you for your calls, your lobbying and your letter writing. We made a difference!

We also had a few stark losses, notably the Cap and Trade Bill and PERS, reminding us that justice seeking never ends and vigilance and activism are necessary if we are to manifest our vision of a welcoming, safe, abundant, fair and kind Oregon.

That being said, we are pleased to share an opportunity to show up in support of Amazon workers as well as join a national vigil to protest the inhumane conditions immigrants face at our southern border!

And this week, as the nation celebrated its independence from tyranny, may we remember those who remained enslaved and vilified at the time and those who continue to seek freedom.

And may we speedily and in our day live into the aspiration of that post Holocaust call: NEVER AGAIN! As we work to liberate all who are imprisoned in concentration camps by this administration.

Sending strength, comfort, love and endurance from your friends at the Portland Spirit Led Justice Alliance,

Rabbi Debra Kolodny
